The Future Farm?

This past week I was lucky enough to head to Tokyo. It was more then just a fly by night kind of situation as our friend has potentially found a place for us to call the “farm”. Our criteria was relatively minimal, a house to live in and a large enough yard for the dogs to run around freely and safely.

We have been searching all over Japan and by chance our friends had someone in their lives that they knew was interested in giving up the farm life. So I took some time out of this trip to head to Saitama, to our old little town of Tokigawa to meet with him.

It was a very nice meeting. Getting to know the man, the property and his history.

As the property stands, it’s amazing. Lots of well taken cared of land. Fruit trees, vegetables and fresh water from the Mt. Springs. Its kind of an oasis on the side of a mountain.

Being honest, the homes on the property need a lot of TLC but have the “bones” of greatness. Consisting of a two story outer house, main home and barn, theres more then enough living space for me, my brother and our 10 dogs.

The goal would be to convert the 2 story building into a renovated “tiny home” for my brother. It has a lot of potential and can be really great if done right.

The main home needs the most TLC. In it’s case paint could help a lot. But the structure and again “bones” of it all is what we really need. The barn area has the biggest potential for the dogs to have their own dedicated place to enjoy and rest in.

A major point of this property is the fact that of the 3+ acres of land, most of it is fenced. Giving the dogs an amazing opportunity to stretch their legs, run as fast and as far as they want and can.

So here is to the dream. To the hope that we can find a way to make this happen. It will give us, our dogs and honestly our family an amazing place to create good memories and experiences!
