EVENTFUL Visit

So the time has come and our sister and her family have left Japan. After some discussion we all come to the conclusion that it was definitely a little too short but, have already started planning the next trip.. We are aiming for September of this year so that my brother and our brother in-law can hike up Mt. Fuji. It’s something my brother has wanted to do for some time now and I think with the motivation of our brother in-law doing it with him, there is a renewed desire to complete it.

The trip overall was great. They had an amazing time in Tokyo, spending lots of time on exploring, games and the dreaded claw machines. It was told that our nieces were crazy over them and spend so much time and in return money on trying to win fluffy prizes.

On the special side our cousin from Yamaguchi did visit them and they had an amazing catchup moment as our older niece has not seen him since she was three. This was also the first time our younger niece has ever met him.

The had an action packed four days in Tokyo and I would say my brother pulled off a great first experience for them.

They travel to Hokkaido on the fourth day and met up with me. I honeslty have to admit that it was one of the happiest moments of my life to see my nieces for the first time in almost two years. From seeing them everyday to not seeing them at all has been a challenge to say the least.

Unfortunately or perhaps not our little niece got sick. This caused us to focus more on family stuff, staying in to play cards, Jenga or other family things. We sat around the table sharing stories, experiences, took a moment to run outside and play in the snow and drove around a whole lot. While it wasn’t the action packed ski trip we had planned, it was much more of a family quality time event. Which is why i say perhaps it was a good thing.

Towards the end our niece was back in full force and we did more sightseeing.

We talked a lot about future plans, and since this was the exploration trip for our sister she quickly realized that she loved Japan and wanted more.

Many people, including myself don’t realize how BIG Japan is. We live here, and haven’t seen .00001 percent of the country. I think the impact of that reality can only set in when you get to Japan and see it for yourself.

Overall this trip was amazing. And from it, generated a new plan for a reunion only a few months from now. I REALLY hope we can make it happen. It has brought so much joy to my life to have our family coming and going, coming and going. I love seeing new things through their eyes and honestly I just like spending time with them.

I’ll share more details about our aventures soon but until then.

See you in the next one.
