SNOWWWWWW

Recently, the snow has been falling relatively constantly here in Hokkaido, or at least at our house. Last night before I went to bed the snow was coming down at a heavy pace; meaning when I woke up the ground would be coated. And sure enough this morning I found our driveway, carport and everywhere else covered by about a foot of snow…

Normally I really wouldn’t mind but this time I have to clear it alone. Our sister and family come to Hokkaido tomorrow night and I need to get out of the house to pick them up, so my priority today is to clear as much of the drive as I can so that tomorrow if / when it snows It wont lock me in.

This winter has been weird so far. Normally by this time last year it was heavy snow everyday and we were surrounded by several feet of snow. While I am not complaining, I just find it interesting that this is the case this year.

After doing the household work and more family prep, i’m going to head to the store and get a sled for our nieces to play with when they’re here. I’ll have to ask them if they like sledding on snow better then a cardboard box down a grassy hill like we do in Hawaii.

This part of their trip will be a more authentic life in Japan for them. One I keep telling my sister that shes lucky to experience. Many people visit Japan but to get a “taste” of living here is not something many get to endure.

I always find it interesting to take people who are visiting to grocery stores, or hardware stores because it gives you a different perspective of the country you’re currently in. It sounds weird but honestly, how often can you say you went grocery shopping in another country.

In any case, wish me lots of luck as I have to start my day. Cleaning is not something I enjoy but as of right now it’s a necessary task that needs my full attention!

Until the next one!
