Dictated by Weather

So as some of you know our business revolves around filming tourist destinations and life in Japan. Because of this we have certain criteria we try to meet when it comes to how things are filmed, when and where. One of the key aspects of deciding where or IF we will be filming is the weather. Most times videos that have blue skies are unbeatable in lighting and of course aesthetic, so it gives us clear requirements on when we can do things.

Recently the weather in Hokkaido has been, gloomy. Overcast skies or pouring rain. It hasn’t made making videos easy at all. So we have been trying our best to find alternatives and locations that match the rainy vibe.

It’s really interesting to have to factor this aspect into our lives and honestly it wasn’t something we really thought about too much prior. It is, in essence a learn as you go kind of situation.

We also try to avoid filming on weekends as most families are out and about, and honestly that causes a lot of issues in regards to parking, navigating streets or locations.

So take today for example, it’s Saturday and the sun is actually out and shining bright. Unfortunately we can’t film today because of the weekend.
I guess being honest we definitely could just head out but again the traffic, and abundance of people is really off putting.

In any case does your job have strange criteria like us? I’m wondering more now if the weather affects others the way it does us.

Until the next one.
