Fushimi Inari (1000 TORI)

Fushimi Inari, or the 1000 Tori gates in Kyoto has been and was one of my desired destinations overall in Japan. To finally have the opportunity to experience this amazing place was just a dream come true.

First of all, for photographers; this place is one of the top destinations for that “authentic Japan” look. Almost every area has a photogenic spot and the cinematography that can be done here is unlimited.

Our experience; there are two levels of the Fushimi Inari Tori gate hike. One that stops half way and the other does the full loop. My family stopped at the half way point as there was no way they could finish. The shorter of the two hikes itself is challenging for those who are not in relative good shape. The full course is rough, and one that if I do go back or rather when I go back, I will prepare better.

I think my next visit here will be much different. I did travel here during limited tourism so the attractions or amenities that are normally there weren’t there. I’m sure if they were our experience would have been much different.

A major bonus of the timing was, there was almost no one there. The photos and video I got of empty walkways was not timed, it was just us walking around. Something i’m sure will almost never happen again.

Overall i’d say I had an awesome time and definitely want to go back again.
