Fattening for Winter

Winter is QUICKLY approaching based off the temperature in Hokkaido. And while the puppies are perfectly fine still I want to add a little meat to their bodies to help combat the cold and give them a little extra fat to keep them warm through the winter.

Currently all of the dogs are at “optimal” weights but closer to the lighter side of that scale. So my goal is to push them slightly closer to the middle.

We have been focusing on gut health, introducing many probiotics to their meals. We have also been feeding them mornings and turmeric. Both are said to help with immune, coat, inflammation and antioxidants.

Today we started added pieces of whole chicken into the mix. In the hopes of increasing mass slightly.

So we shall see how effective this plan works. Overall the puppies are normally fine during the winter as the areas they are in are warm due to their body heat. But there are SOME days that are just too cold.

But we are also installing a heater into their rooms this year. So maybe the thought of cold (except when outside to pee) will be in the past.

We are also trying to save up for a Ac for the summer times.

In any case that’s the current plan. And I’ll let you all know how it’s goes

Until the next one
