Winter is Weird This Year
So in Hokkaido during January and for sure during February the temperature is normally very cold and the amount of snow that falls is generally epic. But this year it has been a little strange, with super heavy snow days and then followed by sun and about 40ºF heat. It’s causing a lot of ice built up and while that’s not too big of an issue for us, it makes driving a little more scary.
It’s also slightly uncomfortable because in the morning generally speaking the temperature is COLD, but by the time noon comes it’s become hot and we turn off the heaters. Which again is not a big deal but then suddenly in the mid to late afternoon the temperature drops and then we have to reheat the house all over again.
I guess my only complaint is that it’s much easier to keep the house warm then to reheat it after it’s cooled. But it is what it is.
The good thing about warmer weather is the fact that the snow does melt a little causing us to have a little more options with piling up all the snow fall. We were honestly starting to run out of space in our “go to” spots. So this I guess is a good thing.
With all of that being said, most time after the heat the snow generally comes and aggressively. So we shall see if that holds true to this situation as well.
