Home “Improvements”

So with the birth of our puppies and the addition of 8 little ones, we quickly realized that we need more space for them to play, run around and of course potty. The current area that mom and dad doggos use is no where near large enough for puppies to play so we’re looking at enclosing the front portion of our yard so that they have access to a safe space away from traffic and that is a little more private.
The way our home is positioned is in the shape of an L and due to this shape there is an area between the house and driveway that we can enclose.
Tomorrow we’re getting the material we chose to make the fence delivered and will be installing it and hopefully finishing tomorrow so that they can run around outside.
Now heres the difference between home improvements in Japan vs. the United States. And this is my opinion only.

Pros:
Delivery of items is cheap, at least to where we live. Only $10 from the store to our home.
Quality of items are great, for the most part

Cons:
Options of material are rough. Only commercial contractors have access to a wide variety of product. In most cases we have been left to improvise
Price

I could be a little more technical but it would take too long to go through each minor detail. But these are the bigger ones that stand out to me. I will admit that the overall situation in regards to repairs is slowed due to the fact material is difficult to source and in occasion price restrictive.

Our fence for example is not being made out of the traditional “Chain link” that the USA so knowingly uses and loves. We were forced to use a “rebar” mesh normally used to strengthen concrete. We were lucky enough to find a gate for the entry but that was costly, almost $80.

Overall I think what we will create will be nice, fun and a safe space for the dogs. But it did not or will not come without some difficulties make the vision come completely to life.

Please stay posted on our progress! It all starts tomorrow!
