Discovering Sapporo

Yesterday was a good day in my opinion, my brother and I traveled to Sapporo to take a walk around the city center. I promised myself back in December that after the snow had melted I would make an effort to explore the streets of Sapporo a little better to familiarize myself with the city. Ideally i’d like to be able to give directions if / when someone is visiting us and needs help.

The city is compact yet so spacious at the same time. It is designed in a grid pattern so I THINK learning the navigation will be “easier”.

Unlike Tokyo, because Sapporo is setup like a grid there are few to crazy shaped roads and most of the roads are spacious enough for two lanes.

I recall driving through Tokyo once, the roads in some areas were so small that our car barely fit. The stress was compounded by the fact there were thousands of people running everywhere.

Nonetheless my goals are still the same.

I truly love living in Japan, it’s been challenging, uplifting and fun. Sapporo or rather Hokkaido has been providing us with MANY new opportunities and experiences, all of which I am so thankful for.

Our parents are coming soon and we’re going to be visiting a beach area in Yoichi, it’ll be the first time I swim in the Japan Sea, so i’m hoping for warmer weather at that time.

We have a laundry list of places to visit while our parents are here and are taking a road trip from Sapporo to Saitama to visit our old friends.

Looking forward to all of it!
