Challenging Myself to be Better

As the years pass by and I get older, I like to create variable benchmarks for myself. Benchmarks that I look at more as GOALS and not requirements. This year one of my goals is to push myself to do more in the day.

Generally speaking I wake up anywhere between 5:30 AM and 6:30AM depending on how bright the sun is. When the Spring time comes and the sun comes up earlier the first week is hard for me as I start my day around 4:30AM.

I’ve seen a lot of “influencers” on the internet who say waking up early is the key to success and, to a degree, I agree. I find that MOST times by 11:00 AM I have finished responding to emails, updated our website, responded to comments, cleaned the house (minimally), done the dishes, taken the dogs out and a few other misc things that come up day to day.

BUT being honest, by this time i’m tired. So I sometimes end up taking a nap. Other days I hold off until we get back from filming for our channel or on the drive home. At most my naps run about 1 hour, sometimes less if interrupted.

I continue my day around 2 or 3 depending and prepare dinner for the dogs, clean the outside areas, take a moment to take the sun in (if its out) and play some video games. Recently since I started journalling my day and experiences I take some time in the PM to do this just to keep record for myself.

By 5 the puppies are letting me know that it is feeding time and I need to get in gear and serve them dinner. So that’s what I do. Then I cook for the humans, we eat then relax for an hour or so. Shower, then sit in front of the computer for a while trying to update what I need to do, make plans for the next day, organize my life or at least attempt to and then around 12:00 or so head to bed. I’ll throw in some gaming time as well if my brother or friends are online.

BUT this year and my benchmark of bettering myself is geared towards being able to be a little more productive. To gain clarity in my thought process and come up with a rhythm that makes sense. I also want to experience more, of the world, culture etc.

My brother is letting me stay in Tokyo for a couple of days this weekend, while I take our dad back for his flight to Hawaii. I’m really happy that i’m getting this opportunity as I can explore, run around etc freely without having to “host”. I do wish my brother could come with as I have a lot of fun with him but it’s just not in the cards at the moment.

So that’s me. My goals. Lets hope that I can make something happen. And of course i’m going to share all of this with you as time progresses.

Until the next one.
